My Brief Thoughts On ‘Terrorism’ (based on recent research)

So there is a lot of conceptual issues concerning what is, but not who is, is terroris(t)m? Here is my definition based on comparative historical research.

I found out that every application of the term has been used by a contemporary status quo against the challengers to such a status quo position. For example, during the colonial wars of national liberations (and resistance), western nations applied the use of the term to all great men, today we know they were, from Mandela, to Nehru, Gandhi, Jomo Kenyatta, Nyerere, Malaysian ”Communist terrorists”, Indonesian nationalists, to South America, Castro, and so forth and forth.

Today, the western international status quo, is being challenged not by other great powers, like China or Russia, but by Moslem ”Mujahideens”, or what we refer to as the contemporary ‘terrorists’. These have advanced the concept of wars of national liberations to wars of international liberations.

This is the definition of terrorism? A group of politically motivated (religious is mixed for it’s traditional utility) who challenge the dominant status quo for autonomy, or change. Is Osama Bin Laden going to be a role-model of freedom to future generations? In short, are todays ‘jihadists’, or ‘terrorists’, going to be the future icons of freedom, or free world? Something to think about it.

Have a Great Days-off.
