For conspiracy theorists, AV looks like a perfect point of investigation. While I am not a conspiracy theorists, I might agree at this point there might be something more fishy in the choice of AV to much better proportional representation, instead of this half-way semi-proportional rep system.

The system seemed selected to fail from the outset, I kind of behind the doors of whitehall intrigue worthy of Francis Urqhuart, played by the late Ian Richardson, of the House of Cards.

My prediction: The overwhelming votes will be against AV, i.e. NO to AV by majority on the 5th of May.

The system is truly worse, and one can not even attempt to comprehend it’s strategic fit into the British Politics. The Question is: Was there a deal for the ‘acceptable failure’ between the members of the coalition government? Mmmm.
